Enel Invests $1.1 Billion In Five New Brazil Renewable-Energy Plants

Enel SpA said Monday that its Brazilian renewable-energy subsidiary is building five new plants in the country, with a total capacity of 1.3 gigawatts. Enel Green Power Brasil Participacoes Ltda. has begun construction on four wind farms and one solar plant in Brazil’s north-east, the Italian energy company said. The Sao Goncalo III solar plant is being built in the state of Piaui, and will take the Sao Goncalo solar site to a total installed capacity of 864 megawatts.

A company specializing in clean energy design has unveiled plans to build a carbon-neutral industrial park in the northern Nevada desert that it says would be the largest in the United States powered by locally generated renewable energy. TerraScale officials say the Energos project they plan to develop on up to 5.7 square miles (14.7 square kilometers) of land in Churchill County just east of Reno could eventually be worth billions of dollars.

California Rule Facilitating the Recycling of Solar Panels Takes Effect January 1, 2021

A new rule will take effect in California on January 1, 2021 that will allow generators of decommissioned solar panels (photovoltaic or PV modules) to manage them more economically as universal waste as opposed to hazardous waste under current California law. EU Regulators Okay 30-Billion-Euro Dutch Scheme To Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Kenya To Add 80MW Of Solar Power To National Grid In 2021

Kenya is set to add 80 megawatts of solar power to the national electricity grid in 2021, the country’s energy regulator said on Friday. Caroline Kimathi, principal renewable energy officer at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), told journalists in Nairobi that Kenya generates approximately 200 megawatts of electricity from harnessing the sun’s energy. “Private investors have received approval to build two solar electric plants at 40 megawatts each that will be operational in 2021,” Kimathi told a forum on reviewing a draft regulation on solar energy.
